It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 1st Conference of the Asian Oceania Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOSPRM), which will be held in Nanjing, China during the flower season May 16-19, 2008. AOSPRM is a newly established regional organization of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM).
The Conference, endorsed by ISPRM, aims at building an academic bridge between all the countries of Asia and Oceania. At the same time to open a window to the world showing the rapid development of physical and rehabilitation medicine in this region. Together, the region of Asia and Oceania occupies 35.4% land mass and contain s 61% population of the world. This region has a three thousand year old civilization and a rich history of traditional medicine. With the theme ¡°to bring the traditional to the modern for a better quality of life for the disabled,¡± this Congress will provide an opportunity for exchange and communication among physiatrists and therapists. We will also invite international leading experts and colleagues to join us so as to make this Congress an international gathering in physical and rehabilitation medicine.
China is an ancient and promising country, and Nanjing is one of its most fascinating cities. The city was founded in 472 BC, and was the capital city of China for six dynasties. It is also one of the most advanced economic and industrial centers in China. Nanjing is a poem that carries on for thousand years, a book to be read time and again. It is a city that never fails to live up to even the highest of expectations. You will enjoy not only your academic participation in this Congress, but a chance to explore Nanjing and the rich tradition it offers.
